Nothing is simple this summer: Posted August 18, 2007 by Chuck Mallek

We had a paving contractor show up today (Thursday 8/16/07) to do a simple fix patch of the area in the E building parking lot that has been sinking for some time. When he got into the fill dirt below the asphalt he discovered that the original developer had knocked down an old cement block house on the property and buried it on the spot! The more he dug, the more debris came up. We even found an old rag rug rotting away, the springs from old upholstered furniture, and an artificial Christmas tree!
Needless to say, a simple repair got real complicated! The three board members in residence (Carol Gombos, Bill Kissner, Chuck Mallek) conferred with the owner of the paving firm and all agreed to clean out the sinking spot, but not expand the dig beyond the 20' by 20' area already started. The sinking was caused by the rotting away of all the 2x4's and other lumber thrown in the hole originally.
The pictures pretty well describe the scene. Repairs should be completed tomorrow.

Clubhouse Progress as of Jan 15, 2007

The final permit has not yet been obtained. Apparently requirements by the county are a moving target. The latest is that we require 2 bathrooms and both to be handicap accessible which means larger doors and more space. Meanwhile the floor on the existing building has been raised 8" and has been tiled and painted by owners, and is being used as shown for now. The beautiful tile was laid by Mirko Roknich with help from John Slomsky.
